4. Predictable Routines and Signals 
-Are highly important in structuring  a positive and nurturing environment and reducing the anxiety of English language learners.
-Having set patterns, routines, and signals assist with the anxiety of ELL students in the classroom. 


  • The teacher must set up the classroom, with areas designated for group activities, free reading, partner work, and since this is science , labs.
  • Establish routines for the students so they know what is excepted of them in the classroom.
  • The teacher should model routines.
  • The teacher should be consistent with directions and modeling.
  • Evaluate your use of routines and procedures periodically to identify areas that can be improved.
  • Assess to determine appropriate follow-up instruction.
